“Summer School 2012” in JAIST

●Title of the School	『 Information Security』
●Instructor	Prof. Atsuko Miyaji , School of Information Science, JAIST
●Objective	Smart Phone and Sensor node are getting popular day by day that utilize light weight CPU to send and receive important information. Even while we use such a light weight CPU, we need to consider privacy protection. This summer school is all about “privacy”. In order to protect privacy, the core technique is to use of information security. Information security is a kind of advanced technology used in various places, for instance, “Edy”- an electronic cash system, “suica”- a smart card for train ticketing system, payment system for highways. In this 4 days program, we will introduce information security & its foundation including number theory, encryption technique and practical implementation of cryptographic software on the computers. During implementation, you will come to know the relation between fundamental mathematics and cryptography and how to apply on different application. Even if you are a beginner in programming, you can join this program. Students in the lab will help you as needed.
●Goal	Training future technician and researchers to provide the most advanced knowledge in the field of information security. We provide “One student one workstation” to ease practical experience. You might be interested to join! However, for those who are interested in JAIST and planning to take the entrance exam in JAIST are especially welcome.

●Target audience	University student (4th year Bachelor program, MS/ Doctoral), working in the industry.
●Cost	Free tuition（(transportation and lodging expenses need to bear by himself; however, Ishikawa High-Tech Exchange Center adjacent to the university is available in cheap cost).
●Accommodation in High-Tech Exchange Center:	【One night with breakfast per person including tax】　Single room: 4,420 yen, twin room: 1 person 5,340 yen, 2 persons ( 4,150 yen each).
