The 2001 International Conference on Cryptology in India (INDOCRYPT 2001) was held at IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), December 16-20, 2001. IIT is a national college and was established in the year 1959, Madras was the third in the line of institutes setup for higher technical education in the country. The IIT system now comprises institutes at Kharagpur, Mumbai (Bombay), Chennai (Madras), Kanpur, Delhi and Guwahati.
