Title: Recent Topics on Authenticated Encryption Algorithms

An authenticated encryption algorithm is a symmetric primitive that
performs both confidentiality and integrity, which has been widely
recognised as giving higher security and efficiency than simply
combining individual two primitives, encryption and MAC. Currently
"CAESAR" the US NIST-funded international open competition is running
for establishing consensus of authenticated encryption algorithms.
In this talk, we first introduce authenticated encryption with its
background and existing algorithms, and then discuss some security
issues, particularly focusing on misuse scenarios. We also talk about
our recently developed authenticated encryption algorithm.
